Introduction

Creating a tipping page is a great way to receive support from your viewers and fans. PayPal makes it easy to set up a secure and efficient tipping system. Follow this guide to create your tipping page and start receiving tips in no time!

Step 1: Set Up Your PayPal Account

If you don't already have a PayPal account, follow these steps to create one:

  1. Visit PayPal's Website:
    1. Go to PayPal.
  2. Sign Up for an Account:
    • Click on "Sign Up."
    • Choose between a Personal or Business account. For most smaller streamers, a Personal account will suffice.
      • Do note however, that your Name (and sometimes Address) on your PayPal Account can be viewed when people directly Tip you via PayPal. One of the main "benefits" of a Business account is that you can operate under a business name instead of your real name. Additional info on this topic can be found in PayPal's privacy hub.
      • Additional Fees may apply, as decided by PayPal.
      • A US Business account is ineligible to receive money transfers under the "Friends and Family" category from US PayPal users.
      • Other limitations or differences may apply and you can find out more details on PayPal's Support Page.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the registration process.
  3. Verify Your Email Address:
    • Check your email inbox for a verification email from PayPal.
    • Click the verification link to confirm your email address.

  3. Create a Command:
    • If your streaming platform supports chat commands, create a command that shares your tipping page link when viewers type a specific keyword.

PayPal Business: Hide your address

On February 1, 2025, changes will come into force to ensure that your address will be visible in your PayPal Business account as soon as someone tips you. Accounts that show their address are forced to match it with their account address. To ensure that this is not the case in the future, do the following:

  1. Click 'Invoicing' from the home page
  2. Click 'Review your business info' on the banner
  3. Click 'Use account settings info'
  4. Set to 'Hide from recipients'
