Sub alerts can help you recognize loyal supporters of your community. This tutorial will show you how to set up alerts for your Subs on Twitch using Sound Alerts.

How do Sub Alerts work?

A subscription alert featuring sound and/or video activates on your stream when someone subscribes to your channel. This process allows you to recognize and highlight new Subs on your stream easily. Using the Sound Alerts settings, you can also set up different alerts for Sub Tiers or select a minimum number of Sub months for the alert to trigger.

How do I set up Sub Alerts?

Make sure to complete the initial Sound Alerts setup steps before starting to create your Sub alert. After that, follow this guide:

  1. Visit the "My Alerts" section of your Dashboard and click on "Other Alerts".
  2. Click "+Add new Alert Event" and select "Subscription".

  1. The right side of your screen shows you the alert settings now — adjust the animation, sound, chat notification, or Text-to-Speech settings based on your preferences (we'll explain these settings in detail below).
  2. After completing the customization, make sure to test your alert in your streaming software by using the "Test in browser source" button.
  3. Congratulations, your Twitch Sub alert is ready.

Customizing your Sub Alert

Sound Alerts offers various customization options for your Sub alert — these are the most prominent ones:

  • Sub Settings: Select the Sub tier or the minimum number of subbed months for your alert.
  • Animation Settings: This setting allows you to edit the visual part of your Sub alert — you can upload your own GIFs/videos here or choose to use/create an alert animation with our Animation Store and Editor.
  • Sound Settings: This setting lets you edit the sound that your viewers can hear when the Sub alert appears. Choose one from the huge Sound Alerts Library or upload your own sound files. Adding multiple sounds will randomize the effect.
  • Chat Notification: Use this setting to add a chat notification sent by the Sound Alerts Chatbot whenever the alert is activated. You can customize the text element with variables.
  • Text-to-Speech (TTS): Our TTS Announcement lets you add a voice to your alert that will read out the Sub name after the alert sound ends. You can choose between different voice styles and edit the text using variables.

🔔 Using 7TV Emotes as Alert Thumbnails

The list of 7TV emotes available for your alert button thumbnails in Sound Alerts is directly linked to the emotes active on your 7TV account. If you add or remove emotes on 7TV, the changes will also be reflected in Sound Alerts.
