Video Share Alerts are among the most unique tools for interacting with live viewers. This tutorial will show you how to create them for your Twitch stream.
What are Video Share Alerts?
Video Share Alerts allow viewers to activate video clips from YouTube or Twitch in your stream via Bits or Channel Points. To do so, they paste their video link into the Twitch Extension or the Channel Points field, and our alerts will play the video in your stream within the selected timeframe.
How do I set up Video Share Alerts with Bits or Channel Points?
Make sure to complete the initial Sound Alerts setup steps before starting to create your Video Share Alert with Bits or Channel Points. After that, follow this tutorial:
- Visit the "My Alerts" section of your Sound Alerts Dashboard and select "Extension" (Bits) or Channel Points.
- Click "+ Add new Button" and select "Video Share".
- The right side of your screen shows you the alert settings now — adjust the name, number of Bits/Channel Points, maximum video length, and other settings to customize your alert.
- Congratulations, you completed the setup of your Video Share Alert.

You can set up the Video Share Alerts for Bits and Channel Points at the same time as well.
Customizing Video Share Alerts
When you set up your Video Share Alerts with Sound Alerts, there are various customization options to choose from — these are the most essential ones available to you:
- Maximum Video Length: Adjust the maximum video length of the submitted videos.
- Chat Notification: Use this setting to add a chat notification sent by the Sound Alerts Chatbot whenever the alert is activated. You can customize the text element with variables.
- Volume Settings: Adjust the volume of the submitted videos using this setting.
- Sub Settings: Decide whether this alert should be available only to your Twitch Subs (only for the Twitch Extension).
Video Share Alerts work with clips/videos from Twitch and YouTube.
Video Share Alerts in the Scene Editor
Activating the Video Share widget in our Scene Editor allows you to customize the overlay of your Video Share alerts. This lets you add a custom frame, adjust the styling of the video player, or use Custom CSS. Follow these steps to activate the overlay on your stream:
- Visit the Sound Alerts Scene Editor.
- Click "+ Add new Scene".
- Click "Add Widget+".
- Select "Video Share" and click "Use Widget +".

- You can customize the overlay via the settings on the left side now.
- Make sure to complete the process by adding the new scene browser source to your streaming tool via the "Save" and "Copy Browser Source URL" buttons.

Moderation Settings
To keep your stream safe, manual approval is turned on by default for all Video Share Alerts. This process lets you or your mods activate or skip alerts via the Activity Feed before they appear on stream. You can turn off manual approval via the Dashboard settings. Moreover, viewers can not submit YouTube videos with less than 20 views as an additional safety mechanism.
