There can be cases where you need a simple text or image display in your stream. Luckily, the Sound Alerts Scene Editor includes a basic overlay for text and media elements, which you can use to display whatever you want directly in your livestream — this is how you do it.

What are the Text and Media Overlay?

The Text and Media widgets are a part of the Sound Alerts Scene Editor and can be implemented in your livestream. Use the Text widget to write and display any text in your stream overlay. Moreover, you can use the Media widget to show any images, videos, or GIFs in your livestream. Both overlays are compatible with common streaming softwares like OBS, Streamlabs Desktop, or Lightstream.

Adding the Text and Media Overlay to your Stream

For this example, we will use the Media widget but you can replicate the same steps to add the Text widget as well.

  1. Visit the Sound Alerts Scene Editor.
  2. Click "+ Add new Scene" in the top right or select one of your existing scenes.
  3. Select "Add Widget +" in the top left and click on "Elements" on the left side.
  4. Choose the "Media" widget and press the "+ Add" button.

  1. Use the settings on the left side to adjust the style of your media and alter its size/position via drag and drop.
  2. After that, select "Save" in the top right and enter a name for your scene.
  3. Now click "Copy Source URL" in the top right. You can add this browser source URL to OBSStreamlabs Desktop, or other tools by adding it to your source list as a "Browser" or "Web" source and pasting the link.
  4. Your Media widget will now display on your stream as long as the browser source is visible.

Customizing the Text and Media Overlay

There are several customization options for your Scene Editor widgets — these are the most important ones:

  • Position settings: Select the exact position of the widgets in your stream.
  • Text settings: Adjust the wording of your widget.
  • Style settings: Customize the font and alignment of your text.
  • Media settings: Change the media you want to display.
  • Event settings: Choose to show the media when a specific stream event happens.
