Shoutout alerts can be one of the most effective ways to highlight other content creators in your stream. This tutorial will show you how to set up Shoutout alerts for your stream on Twitch.
What are Shoutout Alerts?
Using the /shoutout command for a channel of your choice, you can send your viewers an individual notification to follow that channel. The streamer who received your Shoutout will also see a notification in the Twitch Activity Feed. You can amplify this effect by setting up Shoutout alerts with an additional visual/sound notification on your stream.
How do I set up Shoutout Alerts?
Make sure to complete the initial Sound Alerts setup steps before starting to create your Shoutout alert. After that, follow this tutorial:
- Visit the My Alerts tab of your Sound Alerts Dashboard.
- Click on the "Other Alerts" section.
- Click on "+Add new Alert Event" and select "Shoutout".
- Customize your alert by adding an animation, sounds, a chat notification, or Text-to-Speech via the settings on the right side.
- Test your alert via the "Test in browser source button" at the bottom of the settings to see if everything looks good (make sure that your streaming software and the browser source are opened).
- Congratulations, you completed the setup of your Shoutout alert.
Customizing your Shoutout Alert
We offer various customization options for your Shoutout alert on Twitch:
- Animation Settings: This setting allows you to edit the visual part of your Shoutout alert — you can upload your own GIFs/videos here or choose to use/create an alert animation with our Animation Store and Editor.
- Sound Settings: This setting lets you edit the sound that your viewers can hear when the Shoutout alert appears. Choose one from the huge Sound Alerts Library or upload your own sound files. Adding multiple sounds will randomize the effect.
- Chat Notification: Use this setting to add a chat notification sent by the Sound Alerts Chatbot whenever the alert is activated. You can customize the text element with variables.
- Text-to-Speech (TTS): Our TTS Announcement lets you add a voice to your alert that will read out the alert details after the alert sound ends. You can choose between different voice styles and edit the text using variables.
