Sometimes, you need to display the number of viewers in your streaming overlay as a part of a marathon stream or some challenge. This guide will show you how to do that in a few steps using the Sound Alerts Viewer Count widget.
What is the Viewer Count Overlay?
As the name already suggests, the Viewer Count widget lets you display a live counter of your live audience size within your streaming overlay. You can fully customize it with different fonts and formats to sync it with your channel design.
Adding the Viewer Count Overlay
Here are the steps to follow to add the Viewer Count overlay to your stream:
- Visit the Sound Alerts Scene Editor.
- Click "+ Add new Scene" in the top right or select one of your existing scenes.
- Select "Add Widget +" in the top left and click on "+Add" for the "Viewer Count".

- Use the settings on the left side to adjust the format and change the size/position of the Viewer Count via drag and drop.
- After that, select "Save" in the top right and enter a name for your scene.
- Now click "Copy Source URL" in the top right. You can add this browser source URL to OBS, Streamlabs Desktop, or other tools by adding it to your source list as a "Browser" or "Web" source and pasting the link.
- Your Viewer Count will now display on your stream once you go live and the scene with the browser source is selected.

Customizing the Viewer Count Overlay
The Viewer Count overlay offers many customization possibilities — these include:
- Position settings: Select the exact position of the number in your stream.
- Font settings: Adjust the font type and styling of the number.
- Custom CSS: Adapt the design of the viewer count via CSS.
