Text-to-Speech (TTS) is among the most popular tools for streamers interacting with their community. Sound Alerts allows you to set up TTS in various scenarios and styles — this guide will show you how to set up Text-to-Speech for your livestream in no time.

What is Text-to-Speech?

Text-to-Speech (TTS) is a tool that allows you to integrate a generated voice into your stream, which reads out messages from your viewers if they activate it. Our tool, Sound Alerts, lets you connect this voice to Bits or Channel Points alerts. You can also integrate TTS in other alert types like Subs or Follows to read a specific message whenever someone triggers an alert.

  • The new menu allows you to customize certain aspects of Text-to-Speech, such as the voice or the type of message it should include. Customize this based on your stream preferences.
  • Congratulations! You have completed the setup of a Text-to-Speech announcement for your alerts.

Moderation Settings for Text-to-Speech

Moderation settings are an essential part of the Text-to-Speech experience. Our Twitch Extension includes a basic moderation check to filter profanity. Channel Points TTS also consists of the Twitch Automod features, which you can customize via your Twitch Creator Dashboard.

However, Sound Alerts also includes some additional moderation settings in case you need them:

  • Manual Approval: You can turn on manual approval for TTS alerts in the settings, which allows you and your mods to approve messages before they appear on stream.
  • Maximum TTS Length: You can set up a maximum length for TTS messages via the settings to avoid long messages that would disturb your streaming flow.
  • Profanity Filter Strength: You can increase or lower the strength of our Text-to-Speech profanity filter to match the needs of your stream.
