Every good Subathon stream needs a proper Subathon timer automatically tracking your Subs and other events. This guide will show you how to set up a Subathon timer overlay you can fully customize without any technical knowledge.
What is the Subathon Overlay?
The Subathon timer overlay is an interactive clock that you can add to your livestream on Twitch. It adds time to the clock based on your settings and the events tracked in your stream and works with Subs and Bits simultaneously. Use the Sound Alerts Scene Editor and the steps below to get started.
Adding the Subathon Overlay to your Stream
Here are the steps to follow to add the Subathon overlay to your stream:
- Visit the Sound Alerts Scene Editor.
- Click "+ Add new Scene" in the top right or select one of your existing scenes.
- Select "Add Widget +" in the top left and click on "Goals" on the left side.
- Choose the "Subathon" widget and press the "+ Add" button.

- Use the settings on the left side to adjust the style of your Subathon overlay and adjust the size/position via drag and drop.
- After that, select "Save" in the top right and enter a name for your scene.
- Now click "Copy Source URL" in the top right. You can add this browser source URL to OBS, Streamlabs Desktop, or other tools by adding it to your source list as a "Browser" or "Web" source and pasting the link.
- Your Subathon overlay will now display on your stream as long as the browser source is visible.

Please note that you will need to set up your alert via the Sound Alerts Dashboard to let the overlay track it properly. To track Subs for your Subathon overlay, you must set up a Sub alert via Sound Alerts first, for example.
Customizing the Subathon Overlay
The customization settings of the Subathon overlay include the following options on the left side of your Scene Editor:
- Position settings: Select the exact position of the Subathon overlay in your stream.
- Time settings: Adjust the format of your timer.
- Sub & Bits settings: Choose how much time the events add to your timer.
- Visual settings: Customize the color and style of your overlay.
- Pause settings: Pause the timer temporarily with this button.
