Tracking how many Subs or Bits you received during your stream can be an essential tool for raising the interactivity of your livestream. In this tutorial, we want to show you how you can utilize Goal Bar overlays that visually track how many viewers engaged with your show via different events.
What are Goal Bar Overlays?
Our Goal Bar widget displays an automated visual tracker of a streaming event of your choice (Subs, Bits, or Follows). They are fully customizable and work with every major streaming tool (OBS, Streamlabs, Lightstream, and more). The setup takes you less than 5 minutes and allows you to match the overlay with your streaming style and brand.
Adding the Goal Bar Overlay to your Stream
Here are the steps to follow to add the Goal Bar to your stream:
- Visit the Sound Alerts Scene Editor.
- Click "+ Add new Scene" or select one of your existing scenes.
- Select "Add Widget +" in the top left and click on "Goals" on the left side.
- Click the "+" button in the middle of the event type you want to track in your stream. You can add multiple ones. Then click on "Use Widget +" to add the goal to the scene. For this example, we will choose the default variant, which is New Follow.
- Use the settings on the left side to adjust the style of your Goal Bar and adjust its size/position via drag and drop.
- After that, select "Save" in the top right and enter a name for your scene.
- Now, click "Copy Source URL" in the top right. You can add this browser source URL to OBS, Streamlabs Desktop, or other tools by adding it to your source list as a "Browser" or "Web" source and pasting the link.
- Your Goal Bar will now display on your stream as long as the browser source is visible.
Please note that you will need to set up your alert via the Sound Alerts Dashboard to let the overlay track it properly. This means you will need to set up a Follower alert via Sound Alerts if you want to use the Follower Goal Bar, for example.
Customizing your Goal Bar Overlay
The customization settings of the Goal Bar include the following options on the left side of your Scene Editor:
- Position settings: Select the exact position of the Goal Bar in your stream.
- Text settings: Adjust the text displayed within your goal.
- Goal settings: Select the number that your goal needs to reach, the date range, and the starting value.
- Visual settings: Customize the color and style of your overlay.
- Styling settings: Change the font, font size, background color, or corner styling.
