The browser source is a crucial component of Sound Alerts, enabling your alerts to appear in your livestream. This guide will outline the best practices for correctly managing your browser source.
What is the Sound Alerts Browser Source?
Our browser source is a unique URL that serves as the video and audio signal for your alerts. It aggregates alerts from all categories into one central location. To ensure that Sound Alerts functions correctly, it must be integrated into your broadcasting tools, such as OBS or Streamlabs Desktop. You can find your browser source on the setup page of your Dashboard.
How do you set up the Sound Alerts Browser Source in OBS?
- Go to the Sound Alerts Setup Page.
- Choose "I use OBS Studio".
- Click "Use Copy & Paste Method".
- Select "Copy".

- Open OBS on your Desktop device.
- Click on the "+" symbol in the Sources section (usually in the bottom left).
- Choose "Browser".

- Select "Create New" and name it "Sound Alerts".
- Paste the link you copied in step 4 into the URL section.
- Turn on "Control Audio via OBS" and click "OK".

- Return to the Dashboard in your browser and click on the new "Play Test Alert" button.
- If you can see and hear your alert in OBS, then you have completed the initial part of your Sound Alerts setup.
How do you set up the Sound Alerts Browser Source in Streamlabs Desktop?
- Go to the Sound Alerts setup page.
- Choose "I use something else".
- Select "Copy".
- Open Streamlabs Desktop on your device.
- Click on the + symbol next to "Sources" (usually in the center bottom of the tool).
- Select "Browser Source".
- Click "Add Source".
- Enter "Sound Alerts" and click "Add Source".
- Paste the link you copied in step 3 into the URL section.
- Turn on "Control Audio via Streamlabs Desktop" and then click "Close".
- Return to the Dashboard in your browser and click on the new "Play Test Alert" button.
- If you can see and hear your alert in OBS, you have completed the initial setup for Sound Alerts.
Browser Source Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your browser source, such as "Your browser source is offline" or missing sound/alerts, make sure to watch our video guide or try some of the most common steps below.
- Refresh your browser source by opening the properties via a right-click and selecting "Refresh cache of current page".
- Re-implement the browser source by deleting your current one and copying the link from the setup page again.
- Enabling/Disabling "Browser Source Hardware Acceleration" in your OBS/Streamlabs Settings via "Advanced".
Using your Browser Source in multiple Scenes
- Right-click your Sound Alerts browser source in your main scene.
- Select "Copy"
- Select another scene you want to use with Sound Alerts.
- Right-click into the scene and select "Paste (Reference)" — this step is the most important one.
- You successfully created a copy of your Sound Alerts browser source.
